Eugene W. Tucker was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 15, 1849, the son of William and Isabel Tucker. On June 7, 1864, at the age of 15, he enlisted in the 39th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, Company G as a 100-day man. He served his 100 days before being mustered out on September 22.
